SITTING ON THE DOCK OF THE BAY

The views of shimmering Linekin Bay from the deep porch of the Five Gables Inn in East Boothbay, Maine, induce a state of deep calm, especially if we go alone and leave no forwarding address.

The 125-year-old inn has just 16 rooms, each with a view of the bay.  You can take a lovely swim by lowering yourself off the dock across the street, spend hours sitting on the porch, or amble into the tiny town.  Boothbay Harbor, tourist central, is 3 miles away.
